Where were you born and raised?

 Pittsburgh, PA

If you aren’t from Pittsburgh or the surrounding areas, what brought you to Pittsburgh, PA?

How long have you been associated with the Highland Park Tennis Club? In what capacities?

I believe since the club started, around 2002.

At what age, where and with whom did you first begin playing tennis?

After I got hurt playing basketball, I looked for another sport.  I was 28 at the time and entered tennis tournament play with Robert Cay.

Did you play for any school teams?  If so, what teams, when and at what schools?

What level tennis player are you now?  What was your highest ranking?

Currently I am a 4.0 player and my highest ranking was 4.5.

Do you play in tournaments now?  If so, why?  If not, why not?

Yes, I play tournaments and do so just for the competition

Do you prefer singles, doubles and or mixed play?  Why?

I did prefer singles but as I have gotten older, I play more doubles due to back problems: severe arthritis of the spine.

Name two of your favorite tennis players and tell why they are your favorites.

Serena Williams because of her competitiveness and Gael Monfils.

What tennis player would you most like to meet or have met?  Why?  What would you ask them?

Serena.  I did not get a chance to speak with her.  I’m not sure what I would want to ask her.

What is it about the game that you like? Why?

There are several things I like about the game:  it is good exercise; you can hit the ball right where you want it to go.  Plus, you get to meet good people.

Is there anything about the game that you don’t like and if so, what is it and why?

There is nothing about the game that I don’t like.

If you could change one thing about tennis, what would it be?

The game is good as it is.

What do you consider the strongest aspect of your tennis game? Why?

My forehand is the strongest aspect of my game.  I used to play table tennis at a very high, competitive level and I had a very good backhand in that game.  I brought that to tennis.

What part of your tennis game would you most like to improve? Why?

My backhand and serve.  Those aspects of my game aren’t as good as they should be.

Do you have a personal tennis match that stands out in your mind?  Please share the circumstances of that match with us.

No. I don’t have a match that stands out to me.

What is your favorite type of music?

 Name your favorite musical artist/group?

  Kirk Whalem.

What is your favorite food?

Roast Beef.

What can always be found in your refrigerator?

Ice pack for my back and Powerade.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

What would most others be surprised to know about you?

  I am a minister.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

That everyone would come to know Jesus Christ.

Is there anything you would like to add?
