Where were you born and raised?
If you aren’t from Pittsburgh or the surrounding areas, what brought you to Pittsburgh, PA?
How long have you been associated with the Highland Park Tennis Club? In what capacities?
At least 10 years
At what age, where and with whom did you first begin playing tennis?
I think around the age of 10. I began playing at the Stanton Ave courts across from my house. My neighbor Duane, his brother and myself used to hit around until several of the “regulars” took me under their wings and taught me the game.
Did you play for any school teams? If so, what teams, when and at what schools?
I played for Peabody High School and Bethany College.
What level tennis player are you now? What was your highest ranking?
I am rated a 4.5 now but my highest level was 5.0.
Do you play in tournaments now? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I still play in all the local tournaments. I play to support the tournaments and to meet people
Do you prefer singles, doubles and or mixed play? Why?
I prefer to play doubles I like the competition
Name two of your favorite tennis players and tell why they are your favorites.
Bill Colbert and Marc Pollack because they taught me how to play and to respect the game and its players
What tennis player would you most like to meet or have met? Why? What would you ask them?
I would like to meet Andre Agassi because I grew up watching him play
What is it about the game that you like? Why?
I like all the people that the game has introduced me to, most have become more like family than friends
Is there anything about the game that you don’t like and if so, what is it and why?
I don’t like the USTA rating system it allows too many players to be bumped out of their actual playing level.
If you could change one thing about tennis, what would it be?
I would like there to be more local tournaments.
What do you consider the strongest aspect of your tennis game? Why?
The strongest aspect of my game I would say is my mental toughness.
What part of your tennis game would you most like to improve? Why?
I would like to improve my backhand because it is the weakest part of my game.
Do you have a personal tennis match that stands out in your mind? Please share the circumstances of that match with us.
A match the stands out for me is playing a mixed doubles match with my longtime partner PJ which ended up being her last tournament match due to her illness.
Aside from tennis, in what other athletic activities do you participate?
I play platform tennis.

Hilton Head, SC
What would most others be surprised to know about you?
I have a computer science degree
If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
If I could change one thing in this world, I would want world peace just so tired of turning the news on everyday and seeing all this senseless killing everywhere
