Pittsburgh, PA If you aren’t from Pittsburgh or the surrounding areas, what brought you to Pittsburgh, PA? See above answer. How long have you been associated with the Highland Park Tennis Club? In what capacities? I’ve been associated with HPTC for at least 10 years. At what age, where and with whom did you first begin playing tennis I started at age 14 at Schenley High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Did you play for any school teams? If so, what teams, when and at what schools? Yes. I played with Schenley High School. What level tennis player are you now? What was your highest ranking? Currently I am ranked as a 3.5 player. Do you play in tournaments now? If so, why? If not, why not? I do not play in many tournaments. I do more coaching. Do you prefer singles, doubles and or mixed play? Why? I like singles and double. I enjoy the strategy playing opportunities they present. Name two of your favorite tennis players and tell why they are your favorites. Arthur Ashe because he inspired me how to play & Borg who showed me how a champion should play. What tennis player would you most like to meet or have met? Why? What would you ask them? Rodger Federer. I would ask him how to bring young people to the game. What is it about the game that you like? Why? The game presents plenty of exercise, the opportunities to work with a variety of people and to work with the youth. Is there anything about the game that you don’t like and if so, what is it and why? Sometimes the game seems too exclusive If you could change one thing about tennis, what would it be? It would be open to more people What do you consider the strongest aspect of your tennis game? Why? My forehand and my strategies are my strongest assets. I can place the ball wherever I like which creates many positives results for me. What part of your tennis game would you most like to improve? Why? No comment. Do you have a personal tennis match that stands out in your mind? Please share the circumstance A continued match which was delayed due to rain stands out in my mind. I lost the first set 6-1 and came back next day won 2 sets. Aside from tennis, in what other athletic activities do you participate? None What is your favorite type of music? Virginia Beach, VA What would most others be surprised to know about you? I am 1 of 12 siblings. If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be? Racial intolerance.
