Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Mumbai, India

If you aren’t from Pittsburgh or the surrounding areas, what brought you to Pittsburgh, PA?

UPMC brought my family to Pittsburgh

How long have you been associated with the Highland Park Tennis Club? In what capacities?

3 years. As a member.

At what age, where and with whom did you first begin playing tennis?

12 in India with a friend of the family

Did you play for any school teams?  If so, what teams, when and at what schools?

Yes. My middle school team in India

What level tennis player are you now?  What was your highest ranking?

4.5 USTA rating. That is the highest.

Do you play in tournaments now?  If so, why?  If not, why not?

Yes I do. I enjoy the competition and the social aspect

Do you prefer singles, doubles and or mixed play?  Why?

Women’s and Mixed Doubles. The less I have to run the better 😉

Name two of your favorite tennis players and tell why they are your favorites.

Andre Agassi for his return of serves and strength of character. Amy Baron for putting up with me all these years.

What is it about the game that you like? Why?

The exercise, the people and the competition.

Is there anything about the game that you don’t like and if so, what is it and why?

Yes. Backhand volleys. 🙂 because they are not forehand volleys

If you could change one thing about tennis, what would it be?

The USTA rating system

What do you consider the strongest aspect of your tennis game? Why?

My belief. I think I am better than I am.

What part of your tennis game would you most like to improve? Why?

My forehand my backhand my serve my volleys my overheads… If I could improve those I would be happy.

Do you have a personal tennis match that stands out in your mind?  Please share the circumstances of that match with us.

During an Inter-school match I played my best friend. She kept trying to talk to me during changeovers. I didn’t speak. To this day.. She reminds me of the “circumstances of that match”

Aside from tennis, in what other athletic activities do you participate?

A weights class and a little bit of running (if my jeans get tight)

What is your favorite type of music?

I sing along to anything on the radio (much to my teenagers’ chagrin)

Name your favorite musical artist/group?

There are too many and too varied. I couldn’t say although I love most songs by Maroon 5

What is your favorite food?

Thai food

What can always be found in your refrigerator?

Avocadoes

What is your favorite vacation spot?

My house when it is empty

What would most others be surprised to know about you?

I am very soft spoken
